What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a safe, natural, non-invasive and holistic therapy, as well as being a very relaxing and pleasant experience. It is not a foot massage - it is the application of specific pressure techniques to the feet. The principle of reflexology is that the feet mirror the human body, so that pressure applied to precise reflex points on the feet, will have a beneficial effect on the corresponding part of the body, including organs and glands. Reflexology helps to alleviate the effects of stress by inducing deep relaxation and has a beneficial effect on blood circulation and the nervous system.
Who can benefit from reflexology?
Almost everyone – from young children to the elderly can derive positive benefits from reflexology. It is particularly beneficial for those in jobs that require long hours of standing – teaching, nursing, hairdressing, waiting tables, sales professions. It helps to ease, overused, tired feet. Reflexology is also an excellent therapy for pregnant women.
What is a reflexology treatment like?
A treatment is done in a comfortable reclining chair with the feet raised. The reflexologist sits on a stool facing the person. It is only necessary to remove shoes and socks. Cushions and blankets keep the person warm and comfortable. Ambient music and essential oils add to the feeling of total relaxation. A session usually lasts about 1 hour.
How will you react ?
Reactions are different for everyone and vary at each session. People are often surprised that stimulating points on the feet can have such an effect on the body. Most people feel totally rejuvenated and extremely relaxed after reflexology and will usually sleep very well.
To be healthier, happier, and more efficient in all areas of your life – take a step by putting your feet first.
